Continuing the excellent writing style and presentation from Eyes on the Skies, Hidden Universe looks at how astronomers use different kinds of telescope to look at the Universe in different wavelengths. Although more technical than Eyes on the Skies, the authors explain how the book is structured, and lead the reader into the hidden Universe by first helping them understand how our eyes and telescopes work in the visible part of the spectrum.

Sections then follow this on each part of the spectrum: infrared, ultraviolet, radio, microwave and X-ray. Technical words and phrases are highlighted in the text, and a glossary provides explanations separately so not to spoil the well-crafted flow of the book. High-quality graphics and illustrations accompany the writing, and clear explanations are given of what is shown in technical graphs and diagrams.

Scientifically minded readers will find the book particularly engaging, and those interested in astro-imaging will find some insights into how astronomers present the invisible using visible means.
